How To Submit An Application For The Fellow Scholarship in New York 2025?
While most fellows will be based in New York City, the fellowship allows for brief trips to other parts of the United States if desired. Typically, fellows start in New York City, where they participate in orientation sessions, meet other program participants, and connect with ACC staff.

Fellowship Benefits
The New York Fellowship provides a grant of $35,000 USD for the six-month program. Fellows are responsible for budgeting this award to cover their research expenses and the high cost of living in New York City.
From the total grant amount, the following fees will be deducted:
- DS-2019 J-1 visa processing fee: $220 USD.
- Health insurance: estimated at $150-200 USD.
- Optional housing at International House: approximately $18,000-19,000 USD for six months (subject to 2025 rates).
After these deductions, fellows typically receive about $15,580-$16,630 USD over six months, which equates to approximately $2,596-$2,772 USD per month. Fellows are also responsible for the $185 USD visa application fee (DS-160), airfare, and any other travel-related expenses. To assist with initial travel expenses, fellows can request a $3,000 USD advance stipend before their arrival.
Eligibility Requirements
In addition to general program requirements, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 21 years old by the fellowship start date.
- Have at least five years of experience in an ACC-supported field.
- Not hold U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
- Previous recipients of the New York Fellowship are ineligible.
- If previously affiliated with an organization that received ACC funding, applicants should confirm eligibility with ACC.
